Photo Review of NYC WinterJazzFest

Updated: Feb 10, 2019

Putting on my artist logistics hat, I ventured down to NYC WinterJazzFest for CMCJazzfest presented by M&T Bank. Below is a little photo review of Friday Marathon-- a tremendous week, featuring music of the highest calibre. As is standard, music could be experienced at a variety of venues during this year's NYC Winter Jazzfest 2019. JazzCongress served to bolster the festival, including a well-deserved tribute to the late Roy Hargrove, featuring a smathering of performances from the "who's who" of the industry. A stellar array of this American Music.

(L-R): DJ Stutzmcgee Casey Benjamin at Mercury Lounge on the Revive Music Stage; outside of Radio City Music Hall; Tomas Fujiwara's Triple Double at Zinc; David Weiss Sextet at Smoke, featuring Weiss on trumpet, Myron Walden on alto sax, J.D. Allen on tenor, Luis Perdomo, Eric Wheeler, and E.J. Strickland; Makaya McCraven; and Artist-in-Residence Meshell Ndegeocello at the Bowery Ballroom.

Where Brooklyn At?

This year's Artist-in-Residence, Meshell Ndegeocello, treated the listeners at the #BoweryBallroom to an unforgettable musical tribute to "Brooklyn," including tunes from artists that ran the gamut-- from Black Moon, to Neil Diamond, to Mobb Deep, to Barbara Streisand.

Mercury Rising

Syl Dubenion, of Jazze Belle, performed to a packed house of attentive Winter JazzFest attendees at #MercuryLounge's Revive Music Stage. The set breakers enjoyed DJ Stutzmcgee, spinning the tunes. Other performers on the stage included James Francies Kinetic and Melanie Charles.
